This Month’s Money Message: Savor

1,644. That’s the number of individuals I worked with this year. 251 of them joined me in one-on-one coaching sessions and (approximately) 1,393 attended one of 67 workshops I led – virtually and in person – with partners, funders, and supporters across the country.

Forgive my delay, but I’m savoring this moment. This is not the highest number ever (during 2020, the number exceeded 2,300), but it is a number worth savoring.

Merriam-Webster tells us that “to savor” means “to delight in,” and I am indeed delighting in that number. And really, I’m delighting in this entire year. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you, counting with you, crying with you, learning with you, and growing with you. Thank you.

This month, I hope you find a moment to savor as well. Whether it is a moment of reflection, a moment of pride, a moment of growth, or a moment of holiday cheer, it is worth savoring. So with that in mind, here are some things to know, do, and believe as 2022 comes to a close.

Know: How you savor best.

Do you savor personal connections? Financial accomplishments? Lessons learned? Warm beverages? Tasty meals? Find what you savor and prioritize it in your budget and in your life.

Do: Slow down. Savor.

Consciously delight in a moment that moves you, whether it is a moment of reflection, a moment of festive celebration, or a moment of pride.

Believe: You created moments to savor this year.

You and your work are worth savoring. I’m so glad you are you.

What We’re Doing

This has been a wonderful year, full of great collaborations and interesting conversations. So this month, in addition to a few more conversations and one or two more workshops, we’re savoring.

(We might also start some planning for new projects, courses, and workshops in 2023 as well. But first we’re savoring. Then we’re getting to work.)
