Our hearts go out to those still struggling with flooding and residual effects of the hurricane last week, including a number of clients, friends, and family members that reside in the greater Houston area. (We see you, we love you, and we support you.) And as Mr. Rodgers so famously shared, whenever there is a disaster, there are also helpers. Find the helpers.
We watched ordinary citizens take charge in Houston to help each other. We watched the owner of a furniture store open his doors to his community. We watched members of the Cajun Navy take charge of water rescue efforts, not because others weren’t helping, but rather because they could help as well. We watched news crews insert themselves in the story because humans – especially creators, especially Texans, and especially Americans – aren’t willing to simply wait.
We take charge.
So in honor of that spirit of resilience, this month, we’re focusing on Taking Charge.
What does that mean?
By the end of the month, creative individuals will be able to:
- Identify knowledge areas where they have some questions.
- Apply key knowledge areas to their own creative practices.
- Build intention around financial choices.
- Measure the metrics that matter to them.
By taking charge of your own financial health and wellness, you’ll be able to support your creative practice more fully over a long period of time. Including during good times. And especially during not-so-good times.
What We’re Doing
Join us from the comfort of your studio for this month’s online learning option or meet us out and about in Columbus.
Creative Control Fest
The theme of this year’s sixth Creative Control Fest, a festival focusing on empowerment for creatives of color, is “Manifest.” And as I prepared for my workshop at the festival, the idea of a “Money Manifesto” kept floating around in my mind. Join CCF on Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9 to master the idea of manifesting your own success. (And if you hang around in the middle of the day Saturday, you’ll hear my Money Manifesto talk.)

Taking Charge
We hope you enjoy this month’s content as you take charge of your own creative freedom. Next month, we’ll focus on Financial Stories – both the kind we tell ourselves and the kind we (want to) tell others. Until then, all the best with your financial empowerment…
