Tuscarawas Arts Partnership

November, 2019

This fall, Elaine is excited to present to Tuscarawas Arts Partnership, located in the eastern part of Ohio. Tuscarawas Arts Partnership, or “TAP” holds a vision that encourages art to thrive by fostering partnerships between its arts, businesses, and community agencies to create a positive impact throughout the county.

In keeping with this vision, Elaine will present three different workshops on a range of topics, including budgeting, entity types, insurance, and taxes for creative individuals.

Today’s Workshop: Taxes 101: The Basics of Income and Sales Tax for Creative
Individuals

If it is true that the only certain things in life are death and taxes, this workshop
will make navigating one of those things considerably easier. We’ll review
federal and state income tax basics for creative individuals (including how the tax
landscape changes based on the artist’s entity type choice), and discuss common
deductions claimed by creative entrepreneurs. We’ll also review the sales tax
requirements for the state of Ohio, plus the obligation to investigate the laws in
other states where artists have sales, show work, or visit.

Arts & Numbers

You don’t have to do this alone. Arts & Numbers is a comprehensive financial guide for creative individuals… and anyone else with a passion for something other than accounting and finance. This book aims to provide basic information on finance and financial matters for creative entrepreneurs to take ownership of their financial situations, thus ensuring their long-term success, creative and otherwise.

Written in short story form with fictional anecdotes supporting the financial advice, Arts & Numbers promises to be an easy and useful read for creative entrepreneurs at any stage.
