SECAC 2015
October, 2015

Come join Elaine at SECAC 2015 (Southeastern College Art Conference), the annual conference hosted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During this multi-day event in late October, Elaine will be chairing a panel discussing the increasingly blurred line between business, art and design.
Fluid Borders Between Business, Art & Design
Increasingly, the lines between business, art, and design are being blurred. Our students are clamoring for robust, relevant business education to prepare them as professional creative entrepreneurs, our faculty and administrators are juggling projects and careers along with their teaching loads, and our idols are managing business as part of their creative practices. How can we support all those involved in developing business and entrepreneurial knowledge and skills?
In this panel, we explore effective ways of developing the business skills in our students through any means necessary: Curricular offerings, co-curricular offerings, gamification, and special projects. No ideas are too radical to consider, and panelists are encouraged to share both research findings and personal experience in best pedagogical practices for the confluence of business with art and design education.
